The time has come, it is finally here. Spring has arrived! The warmer temperatures are welcomed back by the blooming of flowers, and the return of leaves to the trees. And after being cooped up in our homes for the long winter, the time has come for an all too important pastime, spring cleaning.
We are, of course, familiar with the basics of it including vacuuming, dusting, washing windows and floors, and cleaning up the yard. But aside from basic cleaning, checking your home or business for additional maintenance issues is crucial! Between the extreme cold temperatures and precipitation, winter can have a devastating effect on your home inside and out. This is why it is so important to check your home over in the spring after the frigid winter months, so you can catch the small issues before they become big ones.
Our first recommendation is to walk around your home, inside and out, and write down anything that you notice needs improvement. This can include painting (interior & exterior), refinishing kitchen floors and stairs, replacing ceiling or floor tiles, caulking the bathroom, cleaning gutters, fixing broken cabinets (or any other furnishings), grouting tile, repairing walls, replacing old or broken furniture, and so much more!
Once you have made the rounds it is time to sit down and prioritize your list, in which you will need to decide what needs attention immediately and what can wait. This is a very important step, as it will help you to strategize what to attack first, while also helping you to feel less overwhelmed, especially if the projects start to add up quickly.
